Assessment of sun factors on a mesh
Because of its three dimensional geometry expanded metal has properties that block out sunlight.
We have 2 tools to offer you :
HORIZONTAL CANOPY
With this tool you can calculate the dimensions for your canopy in front of your glass windows so as to optimise its impact.
To do this :
- Choose a day when in your area the days start to get very sunny.
- The graph obtained gives you the length shielded by one metre of canopy.
- Height of the glass windows = Height to be shielded
- Hence the length of the canopy = height to be shielded divided by the value of the curve.

VERTICAL CANOPY
With this tool you can work out the percentage of light that will be blocked out depending on the season, your facade's orientation and the time of day you select.
Using this data you can select the most appropriate mesh for your area and to meet environmental requirements.
In summer, sunlight must be blocked as early as possible in the day.
In winter, there must be sufficient sunlight to transfer energy to the building.
